Luapula Province, known for its agricultural potential, abundant water bodies, and mineral resources, had long been poised for growth but continued to face challenges due to insufficient energy supply. ZESCO Limited moved to address this gap through key investments, including the upcoming Mansa 50MW Solar Project.
“These are pillars of national economic prosperity,” said Eng. Justin Loongo, ZESCO Managing Director, during a meeting with Mansa civic leaders.
“ZESCO is mandated to actualize this vision, and we’re investing in climate-resilient renewable energy projects to shield the country from future shocks.”
Eng. Loongo highlighted the Chisamba 100MW project and the forthcoming Mansa 50MW Solar Project, which was scheduled for commissioning in December, as major initiatives driving Zambia’s transition to sustainable power.
Mansa Deputy Mayor Besa Kalumba urged ZESCO to help rewrite Zambia’s energy story, noting, “Luapula Province has vast potential to contribute to Zambia’s economic growth. We were hopeful that ZESCO’s projects would unlock this potential.”
Eng. Loongo was scheduled to tour the Mansa 50MW Solar Project the following day, a development expected to significantly enhance electricity reliability and energy security in Luapula Province.
