Airtel, UNICEF and Ministry of Education Mark World Children’s Day With “Amazing Race” Celebration

Lusaka — Airtel Africa Foundation, in partnership with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education, yesterday hosted a vibrant and activity-packed celebration of World Children’s Day 2025 under the global theme “My Day, My Rights: From Promises to Action.”

The Airtel Head Office was transformed into a playground of learning, discovery and excitement as 30 children from three schools took over the premises for an Amazing-Race–themed challenge, designed to spotlight children’s rights, digital inclusion and youth empowerment.

The children participated in a series of clue hunts, problem-solving tasks, teamwork missions and digital learning games spread across different stations. Each activity was intentionally crafted to help them engage with key issues affecting young people while giving them space to express their ideas, dreams and concerns.

Airtel Africa Foundation said the event was more than a fun celebration — it was a reminder that Zambia’s children deserve not just promises, but real action on their rights.

“This wasn’t just about games. It was about inclusion, participation, and celebrating the power and potential of every Zambian child,” the Foundation said in a statement.

Representatives from Airtel, UNICEF and the Ministry of Education emphasized the importance of investing in digital learning, school connectivity and youth empowerment, noting that such efforts ensure children gain the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

Airtel Africa Foundation described the young participants as “brilliant, curious and unstoppable,” adding that their energy and confidence reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding opportunities for children across Zambia.

“To the children who raced through our headquarters — thank you for inspiring us. Your voices matter, your ideas matter, and we will continue working to ensure your rights are protected and your future is bright,” the statement read.

World Children’s Day is observed annually to promote children’s rights and encourage governments, communities and organizations to take meaningful steps that improve the well-being of every child.
