Lusaka — Zanaco has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on being awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Agribusiness by Mulungushi University, describing the recognition as a fitting tribute to his leadership and commitment to transforming Zambia’s agricultural sector.
In a statement, the bank said President Hichilema’s focus on agricultural reform, market growth, value-chain development, and rural economic empowerment has positioned agribusiness as a key pillar of national development.
Zanaco officials attended the conferral ceremony held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, where the bank’s Executive Head of Client Solutions, Chanda Chime Katongo, presented a gift to the Head of State on behalf of the institution.
“Zanaco is honoured to join the nation in celebrating this milestone,” the bank said. “The President’s vision for a modern, productive and inclusive agricultural sector aligns with our commitment to supporting farmers, agribusinesses, and food systems across the country.”
Zanaco reaffirmed its dedication to contributing to Zambia’s economic growth through agricultural financing, digital solutions for farmers, and partnerships that strengthen value chains.
Mulungushi University conferred the honorary doctorate in recognition of President Hichilema’s role in advancing agricultural development, economic reform, and sustainable growth.
